Caroline: Founder and Tutor
I grew up in Connecticut and made the smart decision to move west after I graduated from college. I spent five years in California and began my teaching career at Malibu High school. I also tutored middle/high school math and science.
I recently moved to Colorado to escape the pollution and traffic. I truly appreciate this pristine land and I want the kids who are lucky to enough to be here to be outside enjoying it. I enjoy mountain biking, running, hiking, and pretty much any activity that involves playing outside. When I'm not moving around I like to read, play my saxophone, take pictures, and cook. Qualifications
I tutor math, science, and Spanish. I also offer essay writing services and admissions counseling. Helping students with college essays is my favorite. Other subjects are taught by other tutors. |
My Educational Philosophy
Current curriculum standards may be the most practical way to ensure quality education for everyone, but they can also make learning seem forced and add pressure to both teachers and students. Everyone should learn basic physics principals and how to write well. I also think math is a great way to exercise your brain, but the amount of content students are required to learn can be overwhelming. My goal as a tutor is to ease the load and emphasize what is important for an individual student to achieve his or her potential. Learning should be fun. I want to show students how interesting the world is and apply curriculum standards to practical life skills. You cannot learn everything within the walls of a classroom or from a book. I want to teach students how to complete assignments efficiently so that they have time for other things. If that means meeting you at the lift armed with a couple of short lessons for the ride(s) up, great. |
